Welcome to Miami

Hi my friends! Last week was the last one of our three weeks trip to the US! We flew from Austin (TX) to Fort Lauderdale in Florida. We spent one night at the Hilton Marina in Fort Lauderdale and continued our trip to Miami the next morning.

In Miami we spent the first 3 nights with my human friends family. I remembered everyone of them as we were already here in October last year for the concert of Marc Anthony. As it was realy hot outside we spent much of our time in Miami’s shopping malls. While I had to be inside of my soft kenell in Aventura Mall,  I was allowed to run around on leash in the Bar Harbors shopping mall, just like at the shops at Bayside Marketplace.

Aventura Mall

4th of July at Bayside Marketplace Miami

Fortunately we got out safe from the panic-outburst at Bayside after the 4th of July fireworks.

Our last 2 nights, we spent them at the East Miami, a new hotel in Brickell. They opened only a few weeks ago. Top hotel, top staff and realy dog friendly. Entering our room there was a bed for me, a water and a food bowl, and a nice toy!

The view from our room balcony was simply stunning !

Unfortunately I was not allowed to enter the pool area…

On saturday evening our holiday was definitely coming to its end.

Tour to Mojave Desert and Hotel Tour in Las Vegas

Today we started early in the morning to the valley of fire. A realy nice and unique place! A real must see!!! But very very hot. We had 45 degrees celsius, so that I spent most of the time in the car with the clim turned on. I got out of the car at the Atlatl Rock to see the prehistoric inscriptions on the rocks.

Then we continued our tour to the seven sisters, the rainbow views, the white Dome, etc.

I had to watch out for scorpions, snakes and tarantulas! The visit of the state park took us nearly 2 and a half hours.

After getting back to Las Vegas, we made a “Hotel Tour” visitng the Bellagio, Ceasar’s Palace and the Venetian. Pets were always welcomed in all the hotels. “How cute” were the words I always had to hear and I believe they were always talking of me. The kids always wanted to pet me.

Las Vegas

Today we flew from San Francisco to Las Vegas on a Southwest Airlines flight. Although it is also a Low Cost Airline, it is much better than the well known european Low Cost Airline from Ireland. You can register up to two baggages for free, and take two pieces as carry on luggage.
And soft drinks are for free during flight. We were lucky to pass security controls on San Francisco Airport real quickly. The flight itself took 1 hour. By the way, my human friends had to pay 95$ for me.
Arriving in Las Vegas, the first thing that shocked me was the heat. 45 degrees Celsius!
But when we arrived at the hotel, I was realy pleased: they got me a Welcome pack with a towel only for me, and some other stuff. The hotel, the Vdara Las Vegas, has even a menue just for dogs. They also have a 24/7 pet relief area outside the building. The rooms are realy big and nice and some of them with a wonderfull view to the Bellagio Fountain.

San Francisco

Hello!! Today we’re flying to San Francisco. After Checking in at the Air Canada Counter, we went directly to the safety control and than passed the american boarder control. Indeed, if you’re flying to the US from Toronto Airport, you pass the american Boarder Control already on the Canadian Airport. So when you arrive at your destination in the US, it is like it was a flight inside the US.

Sorry for not writing anymore during 2 days. Well, the flight to SFO was very good, although they are charging you for virtualy everything in the Air Canada flight. Well, they don’t charge you for water and soft drinks.

As I already said, passing boarder Control in Toronto was absolutely no problem.

Arriving in SFO, we got our baggage and than took a taxi to our hotel, the W San Francisco. A realy nice hotel next to Market Street. They charge a small pet fee. But the rooms are nice (we had a “fabulous room” on the last floor, 31). There is no breakfast buffet in the hotel. And in the evening, there is always a DJ in the bar on the ground floor. The bar seems to be very popular among locals.

Toronto

Finally we arrived this afternoon in Toronto at the Delta Toronto. Our room is a realy nice corner suite one with a fantastic view over the lake Ontario and the City of Toronto. It was really hot at the Niagara Falls an as we walked a lot I got a little bit overheated. But I recovered quickly once in Toronto.

This morning I got up realy early to make my, well, you know what I mean…

We went to visit some very old trains just in front of our hotel

Then, we made a little tour and went back to the hotel to have lunch.

Now, while I am resting in the hotel, my human friends are visiting their preferred café:

Niagara Falls (CA&US)

Today we crossed the Rainbow Bridge (it’s its actual name) connecting Niagara on the Canadian side to Niagara on the US side. At the US customs they just checked quickly my European Pet Passport an than I could enter the US without any further formalities.

Then a little visit to the Hard Rock Cafe on the US side. They did let me enter the shop but not the Café. So we could not get one of the cocktails.

Back to the Canadian side, we went of course to the canadian Hard Rock Niagara Falls. There I was admitted on the patio.

After a short walk, we finally drove to Niagara on the lake where we visited the Peller Estates Winerie and baught a few bottles of their delicious Ice-Wine.

Toronto, CA

Hello. Here I am again. It’s the big day today. We’re on our way to the airport now. First, we’re gonna fly to Paris and than to Toronto. Fotos and reports will follow in the next hours and days!

Heading with the bus to the plane

Sitting in the plane (Embraer 145). Luxair flight LG4601 to Paris CDG.

We just arrived at Paris CDG

After a small lay-over (nearly 5 hours) we are now ready for our trip to Canada. I have sufficiant space, but a little tip: if you are two humans, rather than getting A&B, L&K, E&F, or H&G, better take F&G seats in Premium Economy Air France 777-300! You’ll have a lot more space to put your four-legged friend under the seat in front of you.

When arriving in Toronto, we had to pass a special boarder control I had to pay a 33,90 CAD to be able to enter Canada.

Then we got our rented car and drove to the Niagara Falls.

Next trip is booked

In a few weeks I will make my next trip:

Ontario (Canada), California, Nevada, Texas and Florida (US). Niagara falls, San Francisco, Valley of fire, Tornado Alley and the beaches of Miami. I am already realy exited…wouf, wouf.

Chico from Luxembourg

My name is Chico. I am a smart little chihuahua from Luxembourg. Although I am still quite young, I have already travelled to many countries and many cities around the globe. Rome, Venise, Brussels, Miami, Havana are a few of them. I hope many will follow. In this blog, I will tell you my stories and also give you some interesting information how to travel and where to go, as travelling as a dog is sometimes not so easy, especially by plane.

Travel to Italy

In July last year, I went to Italy. Driving to Como, we passed on top of the St.Gotthard Mountain in Swizerland. It was still realy cold there and there was still some snow.

We drove then down to Como on the lake Como at the swiss-italian border. A realy nice region.

Here we stayed only a couple of days before driving down to Rome, the eternal city. On our trip to Rome we made a stop in Firenze.

In Rome, it was realy hot! 40C. I had to drink a lot of water. Thankfully our hotel had climatization. Here I am at the Forum Romanum.

And here at Vatican City. Unfortunately the pope didn’t accord me an audience. As a matter of fact, dogscare not allowed in the Holy City.

After Rome, we drove to Venise, passing through San Marino. Still realy hot, but at least it was a little windy there. Oh Sole wuff wuff…
