Trip to Havana

Hi folks! On saturday I will be on the road again. We’re flying to Havana! I am already so exited and looking forward for the trip. I finished all my paperwork last saturday (entering authorization from the Cuban Ambassy and medical checkup).

We’re going to fly via Paris with Air France and Luxair. Air France rised the prices for pets in cabin from 100 to 200€ (or $).

I wil keep you updated in the next days, so don’t forget to surf to my page in the next days.

Day 1 (24th of December)

Today we checked in early in the morning at Luxembourg Airport. Our flight to Paris left at 7:55 and we arrived at about 8:50 in Paris. There we had to wait more or less five hours for the beginning of the boarding of flight AF946 to Havana. Now, at more or less 13:30, we are sitting in the tail of the airplane, in the two seats rows starting at 55 to 58. Insteat of three seats there are only two. These seats are a little bit more expensive (+/- 80€) but well worth it. I have plenty of space underneath the seat in front of my owner (my daddy 😌).

We’re waiting now for the departure. I’ll tell you more in the next days. Merry Xmas to all of you!!!

Entering Cuba 🇨🇺

Entering Cuba was realy easy. As all my paperwork was all right there was no problem for me to cross the cuban border. After the passport control I had go to the veterinary on duty and he filled out a paper allowing me to stay in Cuba for 2 weeks with no further checks. If I want to stay longer I have to go to see vet in Havana.

Day 2.

After the christmas celebrations, today we visited Old Havana. We went to the Capitol of Havana and to the rhum museum.

We then walked down to the Malecon an took a taxi to the Hotel National, one of the ancients hotels of Havana, once run by the Amercian Mafia and where Al Capone spent many nights before the triumph of the cuban revolution.

Day 3.

Today I visited the square of the revolution. A very big square where Fidel Castro made so many of his remarkable speaches. On one side of the square there is a huge statue of Jose Marti, the national independence hero, and on the opposit side you have two ministries. On one there is the picture of Che Guevara and on the other the picture of Camillo Cienfuegos.

After that visit we rushed to the Floridita, a world famous bar where Ernest Hemingway used to drink his daiquiri. They call it the cradle of the daiquiri. But I was not allowed to enter.

Day 4 and 5

Trip to Trinidad passing by Cienfuegos, Playa Guiron and Guama. We visited many things today. And I could enter everywhere. Even to the restaurants and bars as well in Cienfuegos as in Trinidad. In Trinidad I took a ride on a donkey. Trinidad is one of the oldest colonial cities in the whole Caribbean. And there are many nice beaches.

Day 6

Today after breakfast we left Trinidad and drove to Santa Clara, where one of the most important battles of the Cuban Revolution took place. Erneste Che Guevara and his fellow rebells derailed a heavily armed train that was sent by Dictator Batista to support his loosing troupes in the east of the island.

After visiting the mausoleum and the train, we drove back to Havana.

Day 7 to 14

While my owners continued to visit other places (Viñales, Soroa, Las Terrazas and Varadero) I spent the last days of my holidays in Havana.
